Hearts mascot Teenie Tiger has been crowned the fastest mascot in the top flight by emerging triumphant

Hearts mascot Teenie Tiger has been crowned the fastest mascot in the top flight by emerging triumphant in Sunday’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League Mascot Race for 2009 which formed part of Heart of Midlothian FC’s Family Race Day run in partnership with Musselburgh Racecourse.

This year’s mascot race featured a total of 11 mascots including Hearts’ Teenie the Tiger, Hibs’ Sunshine the Leith Lynx, Kilmarnock’s Nutz the Squirrel, Motherwell’s Claret & Amber, Celtic’s Hoopy the Huddle Hound, Dundee United’s Terry the Terror, St Mirren’s Paisley Panda, Rangers’ Broxi Bear and, of course, Champion, the official Clydesdale Bank Premier League mascot.

As well as the winning trophy, presented by Heart’s Manager Csaba Laszlo & Adrian Innes, Clydesdale Bank, this year’s triumphant mascot Teenie Tiger received £500 from SPL sponsor Clydesdale Bank to be donated to a charity of their club’s choice!

A spokesperson for Hearts said: "We are delighted at the success of the Heart of Midlothian Family Race Day 2009, the fourth such event we’ve held at Musselburgh.  It really was a fantastic day out for our supporters and race goers alike who, on top of the exciting racing, enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many players, coaches and our manager Csaba Laszlo.

"Clydesdale Bank play an integral part in the day, and the support they have provided in their valuable sponsorship of the mascot race is hugely important – they are terrific partners of the club and the league.

"From our club’s point of view we were also delighted to see Teenie Tiger first across the line in this year’s race, because in doing so he secured £500 generously donated by Clydesdale Bank which will be split between the Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust and Erskine."
