Thistle defeat Ayr

Partick Thistle jumped from ninth to sixth in the Ladbrokes Championship thanks to a 1-0 win over Ayr United on Tuesday evening.

Shea Gordon scored the only goal after 17 minutes at Somerset Park as Gary Caldwell's team earned a crucial victory in their battle against relegation.

The Jags, who host Ayr on Saturday, are now five points in front of bottom club Falkirk and two clear of the play-off place, currently occupied by Alloa Athletic.
