Thistle return to red and yellow

Jags bring out their colours

Partick Thistle are hoping to turn their Firhill ground into a sea of yellow and red for their top of the table clash with Dunfermline this Saturday with Jackie McNamara’s side donning the club’s traditional colours for the first time this season as well.

Partick Thistle Home Shirt 2012/13The Jags have worn a blue and purple outfit in all their games so far as they awaited delivery of a new style red and yellow strip and it will make its long awaited bow this weekend against the Pars.

Thistle have worn red and yellow since January 1935 and a club spokesperson said, “With the players running out in our famous red and yellow strips for the first time we are asking our fans to help add to the atmosphere by wearing something red and yellow as well.”

“They can wear anything including face paints, banners, scarves, flags and, of course any of our old style Thistle tops.”

One player who looks set to miss out in wearing the Firhill side’s new look kit is midfielder Sean Welsh who injured an ankle in training on Friday.

The former Hibs player was sent to hospital for an x-ray with McNamara saying, “We had thought the ankle was fractured but the x-ray has confirmed that is not the case. We will be able to assess the full extent of his injury this week but he is unlikely to feature against Dunfermline.”
