Dundee United have signed Raith Rovers defender Lewis Toshney on a three-year contract ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Dundee United have signed Raith Rovers defender Lewis Toshney on a three-year contract ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The 24-year-old joins fellow recent recruits Stewart Murdoch (Ross County) and Cammy Bell (Rangers) at Tannadice as boss Ray McKinnon continues to build his squad.

Toshney has previously played for Celtic, Kilmarnock, Dundee, Ross County and Cowdenbeath and makes the move after the Stark's Park board accepted United's fourth bid.

McKinnon told the Dundee United website: "I am delighted to get Lewis. He is a fantastic footballer and one of the best professionals I have ever worked with. He can play right-back, centre-half and central midfield and that versatility is good to have."
