Peterhead took a big step towards the League 2 title with a 3-1 win over nearest rivals Annan Athletic at Balmoor on Tuesday evening.
Ryan Strachan opened the scoring after just eight minutes and Rory McAllister doubled the Blue Toon's lead. A Scott Ross own goal gave Annan hope before the break but Steven Noble struck early in the second period as Jim McInally's men moved eight points clear.
In League 1, third-placed Stranraer beat East Fife 2-0 at Stair Park with goals from David McKenna and Stephen Stirling to leave Gary Naysmith's team in the relegation play-off place.
Forfar boosted their hopes of a top-four finish by beating Ayr United 3-2 at Somerset Park. Craig Malcolm and Martyn Campbell cancelled out goals from Gavin Swankie and Chris Templeman but Swankie won it for Dick Campbell's side midway through the second half.
