Two stay one goes at Peterhead

Blue Toon squad shapes up

Peterhead have secured the services of midfielder Ryan McCann and striker Andy Rodgers for next season, however the Blue Toon have said goodbye to the long serving Martin Bavidge.

Andy Rodgers in action for PeterheadMcCann, 31, joined the Blue Toon in December after starting his career at Celtic and then donning the colours of 10 other clubs in Scotland, England, Ireland and Iceland and Rodgers is also starting his first full season at Balmoor after joining on-loan from his sixth club Stenhousemuir in January.

Manager Jim McInally said: “I am delighted that Ryan and Andy have agreed to stay with us as they were important members of a squad that just missed out on promotion. Most of that squad have re-signed and I have 18 players committed for the new season.”

“I am still looking to freshen things up with a couple of new faces but I am having to be patient until the right players to be available.”

Bavidge has left Peterhead’s ranks after a decade of service that was marked recently with a Testimonial Game against Aberdeen and the 33 year old said: “I am leaving Peterhead with a great deal of sadness after some fantastic years at the club.”

“I still feel I have plenty to offer playing wise but leaving is the right thing for me to do just now.”
