Striker Gozie Ugwu has left Dunfermline after manager John Potter opted not to renew his short-term deal at East End Park.
The 21-year-old joined from Reading in the summer and is the club's top scorer in League 1 with seven goals, including a hat-trick against Stirling Albion.
However, he was often used as a substitute and has now been allowed to move on as the Pars boss looks to reshape his squad for the second half of the season.
Potter told the club website: "I have spoken to the board and there will be a wee bit of movement in and out throughout the month. I am not in a major rush to sign the first person offered.
"I have been offered what seems like a million players on day one but I have my own thoughts about guys that I like and players that might become available. I want to sign people that I think will make a difference."
