Ayr United missed the chance to close the gap on Ladbrokes League 1 leaders Dunfermline as they went down 4-2 to Cowdenbeath at Central Park.
Ross Caldwell scored early on for the Honest Men but Dean Brett quickly equalised and Greig Spence and Gordon Smith made it 3-1 by half-time. Jordan Preston reduced the deficit but Spence sealed the win to move the Blue Brazil to within four points of the play-offs.
Stenhousemuir leapfrogged Airdrieonians to go fifth in the table thanks to a 1-0 win at the Excelsior Stadium. Euan Murray grabbed the winner for the Warriors with two minutes remaining.
