Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

15 – Celtic defeated Heart of Midlothian 3-1 at Celtic Park on Sunday to remain top of the Ladbrokes Premiership. The Hoops are now unbeaten in their last 18 home matches against the Jam Tarts – they have picked up 17 wins and a draw and racked up a 51-6 aggregate score in the process. Neil Lennon’s side have already netted 15 goals in their opening three league fixtures, which equals Celtic’s best ever goalscoring start to a season. This is just the sixth time a team have scored 15 or more goals in their opening three top-flight fixtures:

17 – Falkirk (1939/40)*
16 – Heart of Midlothian (1957/58)
16 – Hibernian (1966/67)
15 – Rangers (1899/00)
15 – Celtic (1971/72)
15 – Celtic (2019/20)

*The 1939/40 season was suspended after five matches due to World War II.

364 – Livingston climbed to third in the Ladbrokes Premiership thanks to an impressive 4-1 victory over Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium. The Lions recorded their first away league win for 364 days – their previous victory on the road came against St Mirren on August 25 last year. In 18 away matches since then, Gary Holt’s side had picked up 10 draws and suffered eight defeats. Saturday’s success was the eighth time Livingston have won a top-flight away match by a margin of three or more goals:

20/10/2001 – Kilmarnock 1-5 Livingston
24/11/2001 – Hibernian 0-3 Livingston
02/01/2002 – Aberdeen 0-3 Livingston

David Hopkin’s side trailed 2-0 with 20 minutes remaining, but three goals in the space of eight minutes from Nicky Cadden, John Sutton and Brian McLean handed them all three points. The Ton’s eight matches this season have featured a whopping 46 goals – they have scored 26 and conceded 20. Any supporter who has attended all of those matches will have witnessed a goal every 16.3 minutes.

John McGlynn’s side scored all three of their goals in the last 11 minutes to secure their third win in four league matches this season. Rovers have an impressive home record over the last few years – they have only lost three of their last 54 home league matches, a run which stretches all the way back to February 2017. Rovers defeated Clyde 5-2 in their first 2019/20 match in Kirkcaldy – this is just the third time since 2010 they have won back-to-back home league matches by three or more goals:

Including the tail end of last season, Brechin had gone 15 matches without a win – their last victory came against Stranraer in March.
