7 – Rangers moved six points clear at the top of the Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Livingston at Ibrox on Sunday. Joe Aribo opened the scoring before Jermain Defoe netted his 300th goal in club football (and his 27th for Rangers) to secure three more points for Steven Gerrard’s side. The Light Blues have now recorded seven consecutive wins in all competitions, which is their best run since they returned to the top flight in 2016. Each of their last four victories have come by the same 2-0 scoreline.
4 – Motherwell thumped Ross County 4-0 at Fir Park to climb to eighth in the Premiership table and move to within two points of the top six. Stephen Robinson’s side also put four past the Staggies on their last meeting in Lanarkshire in March, when they recorded a 4-1 victory which helped them secure third place. Motherwell’s recent fortunes have varied wildly; in their last eight matches they have recorded three wins by 3+ goals, but also lost three matches by the same margin.
3 – Dunfermline Athletic continued their flawless start to the season, making it five wins out of five with a 4-1 victory away to Alloa Athletic in the Championship. Kevin O’Hara was the hero on Saturday, coming off the bench to score a quickfire hat-trick against his former club. O’Hara was just the third Pars player in the last decade to score a hat-trick away from home, joining Joe Cardle (v Forfar, 2015) and Nicky Clark (v Brechin, 2018). The last time a Dunfermline player came off the bench to score a hat-trick was in January 2010 when Cardle came on at half-time and netted three times in a 4-1 victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill.
14 – Cove Rangers defeated Peterhead 2-0 on Saturday to move two points clear at the top of the League 1 table. This was the first league meeting between the sides since the 1999/00 Highland League campaign, though they did face off in the Betfred Cup last season. Mitch Megginson added another goal to his tally – he has scored 14 goals in 10 league matches in 2020, more than any other player in the SPFL.
7 – Elgin City moved to the top of the League 2 table thanks to a 3-0 victory over Brechin City at Borough Briggs. Gavin Price’s side are already the only team in League 2 with a 100% record after just two weeks of the season and have four wins out of four in all competitions. Including the end of last season, Elgin have now recorded seven consecutive wins, which is their best run since they joined the SFL in 2000.
