3 – Hibernian defeated Aberdeen 2-0 at Easter Road to strengthen their grip on third place in the Premiership. Martin Boyle’s double helped Jack Ross’ side move five points clear of their opponents and kept them six behind Celtic in second. It was just Hibs’ second win in their last 12 matches against the Dons – they had suffered defeat in seven of the previous nine meetings. After a shaky few weeks, the Hibees have now recorded three consecutive league wins for the first time since the opening three matches of the season.
6 – Dundee United defeated Ross County 2-0 at the Global Energy Stadium to keep up their hopes of a top-six finish. Lawrence Shankland and Ryan Edwards scored the goals to give United their first win in eight matches. Mickey Mellon’s side hadn’t won away from home in the Premiership since their last visit to Dingwall back in August. The Terrors are now undefeated in their last six matches against the Staggies – they’ve picked up five wins and a draw since being beaten 5-1 at Tannadice in September 2018.
67 – Hamilton Academical closed the gap on Ross County at the bottom of the Premiership to three points thanks to a 1-1 draw with Rangers at the Foys Stadium. Ross Callachan netted a stoppage-time equaliser to hand Accies their first home point against Rangers in 67 years. Hamilton had lost each of their last 17 home league matches against the Light Blues – their last draw came in March 1954, when meat rationing was still in place in the United Kingdom. Accies could now climb off the foot of the table if they win at Livingston in midweek.
12 – Heart of Midlothian defeated Ayr United 1-0 at Somerset Park to extend their lead at the top of the Championship to 12 points. Liam Boyce’s second-half penalty was enough to ensure that Robbie Neilson’s side took all three points on Friday night.
5 – Alloa Athletic ended a run of six matches without a win by coming from behind to beat Queen of the South 2-1 at the Indodrill Stadium. Andy Graham and Kevin Cawley scored the goals for Peter Grant’s side, who are three points behind QOS, Arbroath and ICT. The Wasps are now unbeaten in five home matches against the Doonhamers – they’ve picked up three wins and two draws since their last defeat in October 2015.
