5 – Rangers moved into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory over Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday. The Scottish champions are now unbeaten in their last five matches against their Glasgow rivals, having picked up four wins and a draw since losing the Betfred Cup final in December 2019. This marks their best run in this fixture for 13 years – the last time they managed five without defeat against Celtic was from 2006-2008. The Light Blues have now recorded 19 consecutive home wins in domestic football – their last defeat came against Hamilton Academical in March 2020.
15 – Hibernian thumped Stranraer 4-0 at Stair Park to move into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup. Jack Ross’s side have been very impressive away from home this season - in 23 away games they have picked up 15 wins and lost just five times. They have equalled a club record for the number of away wins in a season in all competitions, previously set in 1964/65, and will have the opportunity to break it in their final away match of the season against Aberdeen next month.
4 – Arbroath boosted their chances of survival in the Championship by beating Ayr United 4-0 at Gayfield on Saturday. Dick Campbell’s side have lost just one of their last nine home league matches, and now find themselves in seventh place, three points clear of Morton in the play-off spot. Saturday’s win was Arbroath’s biggest victory in the second tier since 1979, when they defeated Montrose 4-0 thanks to goals from Albert Kidd (2), John Fletcher and Terry Wilson.
11 – Cove Rangers defeated Falkirk 2-0 at Balmoral Stadium to move level on points with the Bairns at the summit of League 1. Mitch Megginson netted a double to take his tally to 11 league goals for the season, two clear of David Goodwillie. Megginson has scored 35 league goals since the start of last season – Odsonne Edouard is the only SPFL player to have scored more in that period. Saturday’s success was Cove’s first victory over the Bairns – the sides had met on two previous occasions, with Falkirk winning both.
5 – Albion Rovers all but secured their survival in League 2 thanks to an emphatic 5-2 victory over Elgin City at Borough Briggs on Saturday. Doubles from Matthew Aitken and Kyle Doherty, plus a Tom McHale own goal, moved Brian Reid’s side 13 points clear of bottom club Brechin City with five matches remaining. Rovers have picked up three wins and two draws in their last five matches – it’s their longest unbeaten run since March-April 2017. Saturday marked the first time Rovers had scored five goals away from home in a league game since they beat Alloa Athletic by the same scoreline in September 2017.
