29 – The weekend delivered a thrilling three days of cinch Premiership action, with a whopping 29 goals scored across the six matches. Every single club found the net, with 10 of the 12 sides scoring more than once. The highest-scoring fixture was Celtic’s 4-2 victory over Dundee United at Celtic Park, while there were five goals scored in four of the other matches. This tally of 29 goals equalled the record total for a single matchweek since the leagues were reconstructed to form smaller divisions in 1975. The only other time this number of goals have been scored in a set of fixtures came on the final day of the 2015/16 season.
15 – St Johnstone defeated Rangers 2-1 at McDiarmid Park on Sunday to climb into the top six of the cinch Premiership. Goals from James Brown and Nicky Clark handed Callum Davidson’s side their third consecutive league win, moving them to within three points of third-placed Aberdeen. The last time Saints won three consecutive league matches was from December 2018-January 2019. Saints ended a run of 15 home matches without a win against Rangers – their last victory was back in March 2010, when Derek McInnes led them to a 4-1 success thanks to goals from Cillian Sheridan, Chris Millar, Liam Craig and Murray Davidson.
3 – Dundee climbed back into the top four of the cinch Championship thanks to a 3-2 comeback victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill. Gary Bowyer’s side trailed 2-0 at half-time, but goals from Zach Robinson, Ryan Sweeney and Cammy Kerr handed them a victory which saw them move to within three points of leaders Ayr United. This was the first time in 22 years that the Dees had come back from two goals behind to win an away match – that was a 3-2 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in December 2000, when a goal from manager Ivano Bonetti and a double from Steven Milne secured a victory in the SPL.
4 – Dunfermline Athletic defeated Falkirk 1-0 at the Falkirk Stadium to move six points clear at the top of cinch League 1. Craig Wighton scored the only goal of the game to help James McPake’s side pick up their fifth away league win of the season. The Pars have now recorded four consecutive away victories against the Bairns – this is just the second time in history they have managed this. The other run of four wins in a row came at Brockville between March 1956 and January 1962 – Jock Stein was in charge of the Pars for the last of those victories.
3 – Elgin City moved into the top four of cinch League 2 courtesy of a 3-2 win over Bonnyrigg Rose at New Dundas Park. Russell Dingwall scored his first career hat-trick to hand City all three points on their first competitive visit to Bonnyrigg. Dingwall has more than doubled his career tally this season – he has 10 goals this campaign, having scored just nine times between his debut for Ross County in 2017 and the end of last season. Dingwall is the first Elgin player to bag an away hat-trick since Kane Hester scored three against Brechin City in the Challenge Cup in August 2019.
