1 – Celtic remain top of the cinch Premiership thanks to a 1-0 victory over Rangers at Ibrox. Kyogo Furuhashi scored the only goal of the game to hand the away side all three points – it was his 6th goal in 10 matches against Rangers. The only opponents he has scored more goals against are Hearts (7). The Hoops have won four of their last five matches against their city rivals, and every one of those wins has come by a one-goal margin. Brendan Rodgers has now faced Rangers 14 times as Celtic boss, and has 11 wins, two draws and just a single defeat.
5 – Hibernian defeated Aberdeen 2-0 at Pittodrie to pick up their first win of the season in the cinch Premiership. Adam Le Fondre and Christian Doidge came off the bench to score the goals which moved the Hibees off the foot of the table. The last time two Hibernian substitutes scored in the same game was in July 2021, when Daniel Mackay and Jamie Murphy netted in a 2-1 victory over FC Santa Coloma in the Europa Conference League. Sunday’s success was Hibs’ first win at Pittodrie in five attempts – their last win came in May 2021, when Doidge was again on target in a 1-0 victory.
3 – Raith Rovers continued their unbeaten start to the cinch Championship season thanks to a 3-2 victory over Queen’s Park at Stark’s Park. Callum Smith opened the scoring for Rovers, but they fell 2-1 behind in the second half, and trailed until the final five minutes, when substitute Lewis Vaughan scored a dramatic late double to hand them victory. Raith matches have guaranteed goals this season – they have had three 3-2 wins and two 2-2 draws in their last seven matches. The last Raith player to score two goals after coming off the bench was Matej Poplatnik in a 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in October 2021.
1 – Falkirk defeated Edinburgh City 2-0 at Meadowbank Stadium to climb to the top of cinch League 1. Alfredo Agyeman and Callumn Morrison were on the scoresheet for John McGlynn’s side, who continued their unbeaten start to the league campaign. The Bairns have won on all three of their visits to Meadowbank since Edinburgh were promoted to the division in 2022. Falkirk have 13 points from their opening five matches, which is their best start to a league season since they won five out of five in 2002/03.
5 – Bonnyrigg Rose climbed to the top of cinch League 2 thanks to a 5-1 thrashing of Elgin City at New Dundas Park. Two Neil Martyniuk penalties, plus goals from Josh Grigor, Reis Peggie and Smart Osadolor handed Robbie Horn’s side a comprehensive victory which continued their unbeaten start to the campaign. Rose are one of three clubs tied on 11 points from five matches, but now lead the way on goal difference. It was Bonnyrigg’s biggest victory since being promoted to the SPFL in 2022 – the last time they won a match by a four-goal margin was a 4-0 win over Dundonald Bluebell in the South Challenge Cup in March 2022. The last time they scored five times in a game was a 5-0 Lowland League victory over Cumbernauld Colts earlier that same month.
