Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

12 – St Mirren defeated Livingston 1-0 at the SMISA Stadium to remain in third place in the cinch Premiership table. A Sean Kelly own goal was enough to separate the sides, with Stephen Robinson’s men continuing their impressive home form which has seen them lose just one league match in Paisley this season. Saints are now unbeaten in their last 12 league matches against the Lions – they have picked up six wins and six draws since their last defeat in February 2020.

5 – Hibernian climbed to fifth in the cinch Premiership thanks to a 2-1 victory over Dundee at the Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park. Jair Tavares and Lewis Miller were on the scoresheet for the Hibees as they extended their unbeaten league run to five matches. Hibs have lost just one of their 10 league matches since Nick Montgomery took over in September – they have earned three wins and six draws in that period. Hibs failed to win on any of their three visits to Dens Park in Dundee’s last season in the top flight in 2021/22 – this was their first victory there since February 2019.

3 – Raith Rovers defeated Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 at KDM Group East End Park to progress to Round 4 of the Scottish Cup. Jack Hamilton, Sam Stanton and Lewis Vaughan were all on the scoresheet as Rovers booked a visit to Livingston in the next round. Stanton also found the net in 1-0 league wins in August and October. This is the first time Rovers have won three derbies in a row against the Pars since January 1980 to March 1981, when they picked up four consecutive wins. Ian Murray’s side are now unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions – they have won seven and drawn two since losing to Airdrie in late September.

2 – Kelty Hearts made it to Round 4 of the Scottish Cup for just the second time in their history thanks to a 2-0 victory over Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park. Reece Lyon and Lewis Moore scored the goals which set up a trip to Ayr United in the next round. Kelty’s only previous foray into the latter stages was in 2021/22, when they knocked out holders St Johnstone in Round 4 before eventually losing to St Mirren. This was just the second time Kelty and Hamilton had met in a competitive fixture – Accies won 2-0 at New Central Park in cinch League 1 in August.

5 – Dumbarton sealed their place in Round 4 of the Scottish Cup after a topsy-turvy 5-4 victory over Annan Athletic at Galabank to set up a meeting with Rangers. The Sons scored twice in the final 10 minutes of extra-time to eventually win a tie in which they had led 2-0 before trailing 3-2 and 4-3. It was just the fourth time in their history that Dumbarton won a match by a 5-4 scoreline in a major competition – they won at home to Clyde in 1895 and Clydebank in 1967, and away to Stirling Albion in 2001. Stevie Farrell’s side have now won five consecutive matches in all competitions – the last time the Sons achieved this was back in March and April 2007.
