20 – Aberdeen thumped Dundee 4-1 at Pittodrie to remain level on points with Celtic at the top of the William Hill Premiership. Ante Palaversa, Topi Keskinen, Vicente Besuijen and Kevin Nisbet all found the net for Jimmy Thelin’s side as they made it 10 wins and one draw from their opening 11 matches. Including the end of last season, the Dons are now unbeaten in 20 league matches, but still have 10 to go to match their club record of 30, which ran from March-November 1980 under Alex Ferguson. Aberdeen have not lost a home game against Dundee for over 20 years – their last defeat in this fixture at Pittodrie came in May 2004, when Steven Milne and Steve Lovell scored in a 2-1 Dundee win.
3 – Dundee United remain in fourth place in the William Hill Premiership after defeating Ross County 3-0 at Tannadice. Luca Stephenson and Sam Dalby found the net for United before 17-year-old substitute Owen Stirton scored his first goal for the club on his top-flight debut. Stirton is just the fourth 17-year-old to score a Premiership goal for United since the SPFL was founded in 2013 – he joins Ryan Gauld and John and Harry Souttar in that exclusive club. This was United’s biggest league victory of the season – indeed the last time they won a Premiership match by three or more goals was against the same opposition in December 2022.
4 – Queen’s Park defeated Dunfermline Athletic 2-1 at Hampden to climb into the top four of the William Hill Championship. Goals from Ryan Duncan and Jack Turner helped Callum Davidson’s side leapfrog Partick Thistle and move level on points with third-placed Ayr United. The Spiders have picked up seven wins and three draws in their last 11 matches, with their only defeat coming against Partick Thistle a fortnight ago. Queen’s Park are now unbeaten in their last five matches against the Pars – they have picked up four wins and a draw since their last defeat in September 2023.
6 – Inverness Caledonian Thistle climbed back into a positive points total in William Hill League 1 thanks to a 2-1 victory over Cove Rangers at Balmoral Park. Caley Jags keeper Musa Dibaga saved a penalty with his side trailing 1-0, and that kickstarted a turnaround which saw Adam Mackinnon and Keith Bray seal all three points. Inverness are now 11 points behind Dumbarton at the foot of the table, having suffered a 15-point deduction for entering administration last month. It was the Caley Jags’ first away win in any competition since April, when they defeated Queen’s Park in the Championship. Inverness remain unbeaten against Cove in league matches – they have picked up five wins and a draw in six league meetings.
3 – Peterhead defeated Stirling Albion 3-2 at Forthbank to return to the top of William Hill League 2. The Blue Toon were 2-0 down after 34 minutes but goals from Jason Brown, Cammy Smith and Rory McAllister secured a fantastic turnaround. It is the second time in three matches that Ryan Strachan’s and Jordon Brown’s side have come from two goals down to win – they also trailed 2-0 to Lochee United in the Scottish Cup before winning 6-3. However, it is the first time in nine years they have come from two behind to win a league match – that was a 4-3 victory over Airdrieonians in December 2015, where they trailed 3-1 with seven minutes remaining. Peterhead are now unbeaten in their last nine league meetings with the Binos, having picked up eight wins and a draw since their last defeat back in August 2017.
