15 – St Johnstone boosted their hopes of staying in the William Hill Premiership by defeating Celtic 1-0 at McDiarmid Park. Daniels Balodis scored the only goal of the game to leave Simo Valakari’s side five points behind 11th-placed Dundee and six behind Ross County in 10th. Saints ended a run of 15 consecutive home defeats against the Hoops in all competitions – their last victory was back in May 2016, when Steven MacLean and Graham Cummins scored in a 2-1 win. The Perth side have won seven of their last 12 matches in all competitions, losing just three times.
16 – Hibernian beat Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox to remain in pole position in the race for third place in the William Hill Premiership. Goals from Dylan Levitt and Martin Boyle ensured that the Hibees remain a point ahead of Aberdeen and three ahead of Dundee United. This was Hibs’ first win at Ibrox since February 2018 – they had lost on each of their previous 11 visits. Hibs are now unbeaten in 16 league matches, which is their best run in the top flight since 1951, when a side led by ‘The Famous Five’ attacking line went 17 without defeat. David Gray’s men have picked up 38 points in those 16 games, which is more than any other side in the Premiership over the same period.
1 – Hamilton Academical defeated Dunfermline Athletic 1-0 at KDM Group East End Park to climb out of the relegation spots in the William Hill Championship. Reghan Tumilty’s first-half goal was enough to give John Rankin’s side a crucial win which leaves them two points ahead of their opponents and five clear of bottom side Airdrie with just four games to go. It was Hamilton’s first win in seven matches – their last success was also a 1-0 win over Dunfermline back in February. Accies maintained their strong record against the Pars in Fife – they have lost just twice in their last 11 visits to East End Park.
6 – Dumbarton thumped Kelty Hearts 6-0 at New Central Park in the biggest win of the weekend in William Hill League 1. Six different players found the net for the Sons, with Joel Mumbongo, Kalvin Orsi, Carlo Pignatiello, Michael Ruth, Matty Shiels and Craig McGuffie all netting. Stevie Farrell’s side are going down fighting – they have won two and drawn two of their last four matches. Saturday’s win was the biggest away win by an already-relegated side in the history of the Scottish League. It also equals the Sons’ record away league victory – they also notched up 6-0 wins over St Johnstone in April 1957 and East Fife in August 2011.
5 – Peterhead took a massive step towards the William Hill League 2 title with a 5-0 victory over Bonnyrigg Rose at Balmoor. An Oliver Colloty hat-trick plus goals from Dylan Forrest and Adam Carnwath helped the Blue Toon move four points clear of East Fife at the top with just four games remaining. Colloty is the first player from New Zealand to score a hat-trick in the Scottish League – the only Kiwi to previously net a treble in a Scottish competition was Greg Draper for Welsh side TNS against Forfar in the Challenge Cup in 2016. Peterhead are unbeaten in 10 matches, which is their best run since 2015/16.
