3 – St Mirren defeated Ross County 3-2 at the SMISA Stadium to secure the final spot in the William Hill Premiership top six. Caolan Boyd-Munce, Jonah Ayunga and Roland Idowu were all on the scoresheet for Stephen Robinson’s side as they secured a top-half finish for the third consecutive season. Saints are unbeaten in their last nine matches against the Staggies in Paisley – County’s last win at the SMISA Stadium was a 3-0 success in April 2015, when Liam Boyce scored a hat-trick.
4 – Hibernian moved further clear in third place in the William Hill Premiership thanks to a 4-0 victory over Dundee at Easter Road. A double from Kieron Bowie plus goals from Rocky Bushiri and Dwight Gayle ensured that David Gray’s side moved three points clear of Aberdeen and remained three ahead of Dundee United in the race for Europe. Hibs are now unbeaten in 17 league matches, equalling their best ever run in the top flight. This current run is marginally better than the original record set in 1951 – back then they had 11 wins and six draws, while this run has 12 wins and five draws. The Hibees have not lost any of their last 19 games against Dundee in Edinburgh – Dundee’s last victory at Easter Road was back in October 2001, with Gavin Rae and Steven Milne on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win.
6 – Dunfermline Athletic defeated Queen’s Park 1-0 at Hampden to climb out of the bottom two of the William Hill Championship. Chris Kane scored the only goal of the game as Neil Lennon’s side moved above their opponents on goal difference, with both sides five points clear of bottom club Airdrieonians. Dunfermline have scored just seven times in their last 14 matches, and Kane has scored six of those – the only other player to find the net was Ewan Otoo in the 1-0 win over Livingston earlier this month. This was the Pars’ first away win in eight matches – they had lost six and drawn one of their previous seven.
1 – Arbroath sealed the William Hill League 1 title with a 4-0 victory over Stenhousemuir at Gayfield. Two goals from Sam Stanton and one apiece from Fraser Taylor and Andy Winter ensured the Red Lichties made an immediate return to the Championship following their relegation last season. This is the fourth league title in Arbroath’s history, with all of them coming in the last 15 years – they also won the League 1 title in 2018/19, having previously won the fourth tier in both 2010/11 and 2016/17. David Gold and Colin Hamilton took over as co-managers just three matches into the season and led the side to 19 wins and 5 draws in their 30 league games in charge to secure a title in their debut season in the dug-out.
8 – Edinburgh City defeated Elgin City 2-0 at Meadowbank Stadium to move a step closer to confirming a top-four finish in William Hill League 2. Goals from Malik Zaid and Innes Lawson handed Michael McIndoe’s side a crucial win which puts them six points clear of fourth-placed Elgin and eight ahead of Stirling Albion in fourth, with just three matches remaining. The Citizens have won eight of their last 11 league matches, including five wins in six at home. They have picked up 10 points from their four matches against Elgin, which could prove crucial in the battle for a spot in the promotion play-offs.
