Weekend preview

The top two meet in the Premiership and it's the opening fixtures in the Championship, League 1 and League 2...

Scottish Premiership
Celtic and Rangers meet for the first time this season on Saturday, live on Sky Sports with a 12.30pm kick-off. Steven Gerrard's men have a one-point lead at the top of the table but Neil Lennon's team have a game in hand. The last meeting of the teams was at Celtic Park in December, when the Light Blues won 2-1. Third-placed Hibernian are away to Ross County while Dundee United and Aberdeen go head to head at Tannadice - the Dons won 1-0 on their last visit in March 2016. Only four points separate fifth-placed Kilmarnock from St Johnstone, who are bottom of the table. Killie go to Livingston on Saturday while the Perth Saints are away to Hamilton Accies. St Mirren host Motherwell in the day's other game.

Scottish Championship
Title favourites Heart of Midlothian kick off their Championship campaign against Dundee at Tynecastle this evening, live on BBC Scotland at 7.45pm. Inverness CT, who were runners-up last season, are away to a Dunfermline Athletic side who have started well in the Betfred Cup in one of four Saturday fixtures. Ayr United host Queen of the South, Morton play Alloa Athletic at Cappielow and promoted Raith Rovers welcome Arbroath to Stark's Park.

Scottish League 1
There's a derby match at Broadwood as Clyde begin the 2020/21 season against Partick Thistle while promoted Cove Rangers kick off against East Fife at the Balmoral Stadium. Airdrieonians, who finished third last time out, host a Peterhead side whose manager Jim McInally this month celebrated his ninth year in charge of the Blue Toon. Montrose were fourth when football was stopped back in March and they face a Falkirk team who just missed out on the title. Forfar Athletic and Dumbarton square up in the day's other match at Station Park.

Scottish League 2
Queen's Park are the bookies' favourites for the League 2 title and begin away to a Stirling Albion side they beat on the opening day of last season. Edinburgh City, who were runners-up to Cove in 2019/20, start against Brechin City at Glebe Park while relegated Stranraer host an Elgin City side who have impressed in the Betfred Cup. Albion Rovers are at home to Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath play Annan Athletic at Bayview following recent flood damage at Central Park.
