Wighton boost for Rovers

Raith Rovers have been given a boost with the news that Craig Wighton's injury is not as bad as was first feared.

It was thought the on-loan Dundee player might have suffered serious knee damage during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Hibernian but he is set to return to training in the near future.

A club spokesman said: "We’re delighted to report that the injury sustained by Craig is not as bad as originally feared. There is certainly significant bruising, and the knee is still painful, but assessment on Saturday evening at Ninewells Hospital and again on Monday by our Sports Scientist Stuart Phin has confirmed no break or ligament damage.

"It is hoped that Craig will be able to resume training within the next week to 10 days.”
