Dundee have secured 17-year-old forward Craig Wighton on a new contract until 2017.

The highly-rated teenager scored his first Premiership goal on Saturday as the Dark Blues hit back to draw 1-1 with Partick Thistle at Dens Park.

Manager Paul Hartley told the club website: "I’m delighted to tie Craig up for the next three years. We think he’s the future of the club and can only see him improving. He’s got the world at his feet and can become a top player.”

Managing Director John Nelms added: "He is an exceptional young talent with match maturity beyond his years. Craig is a credit to the club and is a beacon that all of our Academy players should strive to follow.”
