Aaron Mooy retires from football

The Celtic midfielder is quitting the sport aged 32

Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy has announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 32.

The Australian international helped the club secure the domestic treble in 2022/23 but has now decided to call time on his playing career.

Mooy scored seven goals in 48 appearances last term and featured for his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Before joining Celtic, he played for Huddersfield Town, Brighton and St. Mirren.

Mooy told the club’s website: “While it feels really sad to be leaving the game, I just feel the time is right for me. I have been so fortunate to enjoy such a great career across the last 15 years, creating some fantastic memories.”
