Innes suffers bad break

Cliftonhill side lose Innes for 2 months

Albion Rovers midfielder Peter Innes will be out for around two months after being knocked over by a taxi on his way home from watching the Scotland v Belgium game on Friday night.

The former Motherwell youngster suffered a broken bone in his leg and a dislocated elbow when he was hit as he crossed the street.

Rovers boss James Ward said: “It is very disappointing to lose Peter as he has played in every game so far this season. He is still in a fair amount of pain, with his arm being the more serious injury.

“That will be in plaster for at least six weeks, whereas his leg should heal sooner than that. It could have been worse so we will be thankful that it wasn’t and look forward to Peter returning come November.”

In Innes’ absence, Rovers defeated Junior side Rutherglen Glencairn 3-1 in a friendly on Monday night with Ryan Tiffoney, Mark McGuigan and Josh Flood scoring for the Coatbridge side.
