Arbroath beat Ayr United 2-0 in the cinch Championship at Gayfield on Friday night to move five points clear of the relegation zone.
Dale Hilson opened the scoring in 27 minutes when he turned the ball home following a corner and David Gold headed the clincher from a Ryan Dow cross on the hour mark.
Dick Campbell's side are now six games unbeaten while Ayr stay third in the table.
