The SPFL wishes to recruit a Head of Operations. The SPFL is the body responsible for organising and commercialising the premier football competition in Scotland involving all 42 senior professional football clubs.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, supporting him with all operational aspects of his role. This is a varied and wide-ranging remit encompassing the organising of the SPFL’s competitions, the administration of the SPFL Limited and engagement with external stakeholders. The role is ideal for a qualified professional seeking an opportunity in a challenging and fast-paced environment. A strong interest and/or experience of working in Scottish football would be a clear advantage.
Examples of tasks that the successful candidate would likely be involved in and/or responsible for include:
- Competitions – working with the competitions team to ensure the smooth running of the SPFL competitions including fixturing, cup draws, event management and overseeing the match delegate programme.
- Club engagement – being a senior point of contact for the SPFL’s 42 member clubs.
- Stakeholder engagement – working with the COO to ensure strong working relationships with external stakeholders such as the Scottish FA, Police Scotland and the Scottish Government.
- Regulatory, Legal and Financial – applying the SPFL’s Rules and Regulations, assisting with the SPFL’s audit process and inputting into legal agreements impacting the day-to-day operations of the company.
As with any small team, a collaborative approach will be essential. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate good independent judgement and resilience and have a confident and professional demeanour at all times as the role will include working under pressure and, occasionally, in the intense glare of the media.
The role is usually based at Hampden Park, Glasgow. The SPFL offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
