THE OFFICIAL MATCHDAY MAGAZINE
The Scottish Football League has produced a bumper 68 page A4 size Matchday Magazine for Sunday's CIS Insurance Cup Final between Celtic and Dunfermline Athletic.
The Front Cover of the Matchday Magazine was designed in a competition that was recently run by The Sunday Mail in conjunction with cup sponsor, Co-operative Insurance (CIS) and The Scottish Football League. The competition was won by 18-year-old Eddie Caldwell, who is a first year art student at Dundee University, and he will be treated to a VIP day at the Final.
The Matchday Magazine has extensive coverage of both finalists including interviews with the Celtic manager, Gordon Strachan, and Dunfermline Athletic's management team of Jim Leishman and Craig Robertson as well as a number of interviews with some of the players who will feature at Hampden on Sunday. There are also extensive player profiles on the respective squads of both Finalists and in addition, other features include articles on the match officials, a detailed report on the round by round Road to the Final, detailed statistical information as well as a number of action packed photographs. There are also feature articles on former players, including Jackie McNamara and Tom Callaghan, who both played for Sunday's Finalists, John Clark, who played for Celtic in both Scottish Cup Finals between the clubs in 1961 and 1965, Charlie Dickson, who is Dunfermline's all time record goalscorer and scored in Dunfermline's famous Scottish Cup Final victory over Celtic in 1961, and Bobby Kirk, who played in Dunfermline's first appearance in the Final of this competition back in season 1949/50.
To commemorate the 60th year of the League Cup competition, there is a special look back at some of the highlights of the competition since the first Final in season 1946/47 and in addition, there is also an article in special tribute of Celtic's greatest ever player, Jimmy Johnstone, who played in ten League Cup Finals, gaining five winners' medals.
Sunday's Official Matchday Magazine is available outside the stadium from kiosks and is also on sale inside Hampden priced £5.00 and is an excellent read. For all Hoops and Pars' fans, it is a souvenir worth treasuring.
