Hearts and Aberdeen have been locked in a fight for third place for months and the pair come together in the capital to kick off GW36.
While a home triumph would close the gap to two points with two matches to go, three points for the Dons would all but secure third place for Barry Robson’s Reds.
There are three key bottom six matches taking place on Saturday starting with Ross County’s trip to Lanarkshire to face Motherwell. Jordan White was the hat-trick hero for County last time out while the hosts have their own in-form forward in Kevin van Veen, who is bidding to score in nine consecutive Premiership matches.
It’s 10th against 9th in Ayrshire as Kilmarnock host St. Johnstone with Derek McInnes’ men aiming to build on last weekend’s victory over Livingston. Three points would see Killie leapfrog Saints in the standings, but the Perth men claimed a point on their last visit to Rugby Park as Steven MacLean looks to preserve their top flight status.
Dundee United and Livingston are both searching for a morale-boosting win when they go head-to-head at the Tony Macaroni Arena. While Livi came out on top in the season’s opening meeting, United were the victors in their most recent encounter with their last match in West Lothian ending in a 1-1 draw.
Champions Celtic welcome St. Mirren to Glasgow with the hosts trying to move towards the 100-point mark while the visitors retain ambitions of catching Hibernian in fifth place.
Easter Road is the venue for Sunday’s live Sky game as Rangers visit Leith fresh from their win in the season’s final Old Firm derby. Lee Johnson’s side are only one point off city rivals Hearts in their own bid to make the top four.
