Clyde fans Gordon Sydney and Stuart Robertson are leading a walk all the way from the Bully Wee’s spiritual home of Shawfield to their new Cumbernauld home of Broadwood on Saturday, September 18 to raise funds for the club and a local special educational needs school.
The duo were going to lead a party in early August to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Bully Wee’s only trip to Europe to face Lens in the short-lived Friendship Cup, however that was postponed.
The walkers will travel the 12 miles from Shawfield Stadium car park, through Alexandra Parade, along Hogganfield Loch, Moodiesburn and Mollinsburn, before arriving at Broadwood in time for kick off against Annan.
Sydney said, “We have taken this opportunity to do a bit of fundraising not only for Clyde but also for GlencryanSchool in Cumbernauld. We estimate we will do it in about 4 hours to make sure we arrive in time for kick-off against Annan Athletic."
The proposed International Friendly Challenge match between Scotland and The Republic of Ireland on Saturday, September 25 has been postponed.
