Clyde youngster Gordon Young created a small piece of Bully Wee history at the weekend by becoming the first player to score with his first touch of the ball.
Young came off the bench against Elgin and 76 seconds later he netted in a 4-0 success to claim his own unique piece of history.
Gordon Sydney of the Clyde archive team told the club: “There has been a good few players to score on their debut such as Neil Hood, Danny Masterton, Tommy O’Neill and Bryan Gilfillan but Gordon is the first to do it with his first touch.”
The product of the club’s youth programme is not the quickest debut goal grabber, as Sydney explained: “Willie Watters scored after only 20 seconds in his first game against East Fife at Firhill in August 1986 but the match report said Willie controlled the ball at the edge of the penalty area and raced forward to slot his shot into the net so it is a case of well done Gordon.”
