Queen’s Park head coach Gardner Speirs has revealed that the secret behind his side’s fine run of five wins in six games is confidence. The Spiders defeated East Stirling 1-0 on Wednesday to move to the fringes of a play-off spot and have now gathered more points in the last half a dozen games than they had in the previous 15.
Speirs explained, “We got a break at Albion Rovers when Tony Quinn scored two really late goals in a game we did not deserve to win. That gave us a boost and then we got a wee break with a deflected winner against Berwick Rangers and that started the boys looking up the way again.”
“Andy Millen came in after that and having his experience on the pitch gave the players a further lift and things have just rolled on from there. The boys are talking to each other all over the pitch and are looking for the ball where as at the end of 2010, we were a quiet side that looked beaten if things went against us.”
Speirs added, “We have a bit of resilience to bounce back now as well if things go wrong.”
