One of Ross County’s corporate partners have really gone the extra mile for the Club, with both fans and players benefiting from the support of Inverness based D & E Coaches.
The company, who have provided the First Team Coach for away fixtures for a number of seasons, have also built strong links with both Ross County and their Black Isle Supporters Club when it comes to arranging supporters buses for matches away from Victoria Park and recently the three joined forces to provide subsidised travel for Staggies fans to the two away fixtures in March at Hamilton Academical on Saturday the 10th and Partick Thistle on Saturday the 24th at a cost of just £10 per seat.
However the bus that’s been the focus of attention for the past week is the ‘Vengabus’ belonging to six of the First Team squad. The P reg Fiat Ulysse became famous back in October 2011 when it emerged that six of County’s squad who all live in Inverness had chipped in together to buy the bargain banger to save fuel costs travelling back and forth to training and matches. It hit the headlines again last week when it became known that it had expired on its way to training, grinding to a halt on Dingwall High Street only 300 metres from the stadium.
The superstitious amongst the County faithful worried that this might be an omen, but whilst the ‘Vengabus’ was on the critical list the team notched up wins away to Ayr United and at home to Queen of the South to move them 6 points clear at the top of the table with one of the Club’s ‘Vengaboys’, Michael Gardyne, scoring the winner on Saturday.
However whilst the players were working hard on the pitch, D & E’s team were also hard at it as they made the necessary repairs to get the ‘Vengabus’ back on the road and the good news is that Steven Craig, Paul Lawson, Michael Gardyne, Jonathan Flynn, Grant Munro and Russell Duncan are once again travelling to training in “style” as they prepare for their matches against Partick this Tuesday (the 06th) and away to Hamilton on Saturday.
Ross County would like to say a huge thank you to Donald Mathieson and the team at D & E Coaches for their support in getting the faithful ‘Vengy’ back on the road, although despite getting a clean bill of health it will not be required to make the trip to Hamilton on Saturday as the Team and Supporter’s coaches D & E are already providing should manage the job!
Any fans wishing to book on to the Supporters buses for either this Saturday’s trip to Hamilton or the match against Partick Thistle should do so through the Main Reception at Victoria Park either in person or by telephoning 01349 860860.
