Danny Rohl named Rangers head coach

German coach replaces Russell Martin

Danny Rohl has been confirmed as Rangers' new head coach on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The former Sheffield Wednesday manager replaces Russell Martin, who occupied the Ibrox hotseat for 123 days.

The job at Hillsborough was the 36-year-old German's first in senior management as he helped the Owls maintain their EFL Championship status.

Rangers sit in sixth place in the William Hill Premiership table with nine points from eight league matches played.

He told the club's website: "It is a huge privilege to be taking on the role of Head Coach at such an incredible club, recognised around the world.

"I know it has been a difficult start to the season, but there is still so much to play for in four competitions, and my staff and I will give it everything to reward the supporters and the club.

"The expectations are huge and I love this challenge because I set high standards for myself and the team too."
