Tennent's Scottish Cup Second Round Match Reviews

David leads the way in cup shock!

Queen's Park teenage striker David Weatherston cracked in his first goal at Hampden Park as his side created a Tennent's Scottish Cup surprise with a 2-0 win over Raith Rovers.

Queen's opened the scoring in only 47 seconds when Weatherston raced away from the Raith defenders before driving the ball low past keeper Ally Brown. Although new signing Jed Stirling forced keeper David Crawford to palm his free kick early in the second half onto a post before the threat was cleared Raith could not pierce the home defence and substitute Bryan Felvus ensured a visit to Spartans in the next round with a delicate lob to complete the 2-0 win.

Spartans easily swept aside Lossiemouth in a 5-0 win led by a hat trick by Keith McLeod while Craig Smart and Craig Manson also added to the scoreline.

Gretna were in goalscoring mood as they followed up their six in the last round with a 6-1 win over Cove thanks to a double from James Grady and further goals from Kenny Deuchar, Derek Townsley, Ryan McGuffie, from a penalty, and David Nicholls. Gary Clark had scored for the Highland side.

Ayr United drew revenge for their midweek league defeat when, in the second meeting of the clubs in five days, they beat Morton 3-2. Gareth Wardlaw, and a double from Chris Robertson gave the Somerset Park side a three goal lead before Morton hit back through Peter Weatherson and Chris Templeman.

Stirling Albion substitute Chris Hay spared his sides blushes when in the final minute he snapped up the chance as an Andy Graham header came back off the crossbar to knock in the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Inverurie Loco who had been left with ten men when captain Tommy Wilson was sent off early.

Forfar, despite being left with ten men with Barry Sellars red carded, had little trouble in their 4-0 win at Threave thanks to a double from Darren Gribben with Steve Bonar and Martin Cameron also on target.

Alloa restored some credibility with a 1-0 win over Montrose thanks to a 23rd minute James Stevenson strike and Ally Brazil, with his fifth goal in five games, lifted Arbroath to a one goal win over Dumbarton.

Partick Thistle recovered from an early shock as a Michael Renwick first minute strike earned Stenhousemuir the lead. But as Thistle settled Scott McCulloch fired in a 26th minute equaliser and then Rikky Gillies, Jukka Santala and Steve McConologue ensured their 4-1 win.

Peterhead were much too strong for East Fife and after Martin Wood and Graeme Sharp both scored in a two minute spell close to the interval the second division side went on to a 3-0 win with a Bobby Linn second half header completing the scoring.
