East Stirling’s longest serving player Derek Ure has advised the club that he will not be taking up their offer of a new contract for next season. The 27 year old joined the Third Division club from a local amateur side in 2001 as a striker, and he went on to make over 300 appearances in a variety of positions.
Recently appointed head coach John Coughlin said, “I wanted to keep Derek at the club but he told me he wanted to spend more of his time with his family at weekends. He has a young son that he wants to watch play football and he felt that the long away trips would make that impossible this season.”
“He has been a great servant to this club and I am sure everyone here wishes him well for the future.”
