The 22-year-old has had previous loan spells at Brighton, Derby County and Sheffield United and was capped by England at U21 level.
Dons boss Derek McInnes told the club website: "He is a real quality player, who I think will suit the way we play. I think he sees this move as a real opportunity for him."
