Dundee United saw off Arbroath 4-0 in front of 5,558 fans at Gayfield on Friday night as the new league season got under way.
All the goals came in the first half, with Glenn Middleton, Mathew Cudjoe, Craig Sibbald and Louis Moult all on target for the visitors.
United host Dunfermline Athletic in their second cinch Championship fixture next weekend.
