The 25-year-old had a successful spell at East End Park before moving to Dens Park in the summer of 2016. He now returns to link up with Allan Johnston's squad ahead of Tuesday's Betfred Cup Group D opener against Peterhead.
The Pars have also brought in former Falkirk forward Myles Hippolyte, who has agreed a two-year deal after leaving St Mirren.
