Elgin City skipper David Niven received good news about the toe injury he suffered in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Clyde at Borough Briggs.
Niven was on crutches after the game and there were fears he would be out for a couple of months with a broken bone but tests have now confirmed that he has suffered only bad bruising.
The 26-year-old will miss this weekend's game with Queen's Park but could return the following week against Montrose, with manager Ross Jack saying: "David was in a lot of pain and had to come off against Clyde.
"We were fearful he would be out for a considerable time but thankfully it does not look so bad now. David is a big player for us and the sooner he is back the better."
