Former Scotland Youth team goalkeeper Connor Fairley, who was with Celtic and Hearts as a youngster, before playing in the first team for Airdrie has called time on his senior career to join the Royal Marines.
Fairley made 12 appearances for the Diamonds before moving to Iceland last summer and clubs that have tried to recruit the 21 year old for this campaign have been advised of his new career.
Stenhousemuir goalkeeping coach Robert Glen, who worked with Fairley at Celtic said: “A couple of clubs asked me about signing Connor and if I could see what he was up to. It was a surprising response when I had tracked him down.”
