William Hill Premiership

Fantasy Football: Your GW3 preview

Will you reshape your team before the window closes?

After a dramatic weekend of Viaplay Cup action, the cinch Premiership returns with a full card to finish August.

Fantasy Football managers will be looking to pick up some precious points before casting an eye on all the arrivals and departures as they fine tune their squads for the weeks ahead.

Rangers v Ross County - Live on Sky Sports

A goal and his part in keeping a clean sheet against St. Johnstone made Connor Randall GW2's top scorer while Borna Barisic climbed the charts after providing one assist and helping Rangers to a 4-0 triumph over Livingston at Ibrox.

Both Jack Butland and Ross Laidlaw feature in the game’s top 10 performing players heading into GW3.

Looking at the midfield battle, Kyle Turner and Kieran Dowell have both enjoyed strong starts to the season and the pair could go head-to-head in Saturday’s early kick off in Dingwall, which is live on Sky Sports (kick off 12.30pm).

Celtic v St. Johnstone

Celtic’s Matt O’Riley is the top performing cinch Premiership Fantasy Football player after two rounds, just ahead of teammate Kyogo Furuhashi. The duo will have the opportunity to add to their totals when the league leaders host bottom of the table St. Johnstone at Celtic Park.

Brendan Rodgers revealed that Cameron Carter Vickers and Maik Nawrocki will be on the sidelines for a lengthy period prompting Fantasy Football managers to look at defensive alternatives.

St. Johnstone haven't had their injury issues to seek but they have fresh blood in their squad in the form of defender Luke Robinson (price £7.5m) while Dara Costelloe (£8m) could make his debut after joining on loan from Burnley.

(NOTE: Awaiting Jay Turner-Cooke appearing in the available players list and then I will add him to the article too)

Hibernian v Livingston

Both teams will be looking to get their first league win on the board when they meet at Easter Road. Adam Le Fondre has been Hibernian's top performing player to date while Shamal George has been busy in Livingston's goal.

After recording wins in the Viaplay Cup last weekend, both Lee Johnson and David Martindale will be looking for their creative players to shine on league duty.

Elie Youan and Joel Nouble both have the ability to light up a game and Fantasy managers may look to the pair to add a sprinkle of stardust to their squads.

Motherwell v Kilmarnock

Players who invested in Kilmarnock's defenders have been immediately rewarded with Lewis Mayo, Corrie Ndaba, Stuart Findlay and Robbie Deas each earning 28 points alongside all-action midfielder Brad Lyons who scored big courtesy of his opening day goal against Rangers. On loan shot stopper Will Dennis has claimed 50 points in just two matches this term.

Motherwell's attackers have brought home the bacon for Fantasy players but with Mika Biereth and Jon Obika ruled out through injury for an extended period, the responsibility will fall on Conor Wilkinson (26.8 points) and Theo Bair (23.8 points). Defender Stephen O'Donnell has earned a smart 26 points to date and at £10.5, he could be a good pick up.

Young talents Lennon Miller and David Watson have shown their potential already and with both players reasonably priced, they could prove to be great additions to your starting XI.

Dundee v Heart of Midlothian

Tony Docherty's Dundee have had extra time on the training field since GW2 while Heart of Midlothian may have the second leg of their Conference League Play-Off in mind when considering selection for this match.

Two clean sheets in two cinch Premiership matches makes Zander Clark the game's best performing goalkeeper with 54 points while defenders Frankie Kent and Stephen Kingsley have both earned 30 points each to date. Lawrence Shankland is this week's most purchased player after scoring five goals in six appearances.

The home side can take heart from the performances of young midfielders Lyall Cameron and Josh Mulligan on their return to the top flight.

St. Mirren v Aberdeen

After a strong opening weekend haul of 30 points, Mark O’Hara was a popular choice with players before a thigh injury ruled him out of GW2 as well as Sunday’s clash with Aberdeen.

Buddies boss Stephen Robinson hopes to have his skipper back before September’s international break but players looking for an alternative may find value in Paisley with Greg Kiltie, Keanu Baccus or Caolan Boyd-Munce.

Aberdeen are also in the middle of their Europa League Play-Off with Richard Jensen and Jamie McGrath added to their squad since their last cinch Premiership match. Fantasy Football players have seen value in American midfielder Dante Polvara as a smart pick up with the 23-year-old the second most purchased player this week.

Make sure you make any changes to your squad ahead of Saturday’s 12.30pm deadline.
