Fantasy Football: Your GW7 Preview

Can you bring September to a close in style?

The second month of the cinch Premiership season is almost at an end but before then, we’ve got some brilliant matches to look forward to.

Here’s what GW7 has to offer:

Motherwell v Celtic

Saturday’s early match sees the league leaders head to Fir Park to face a Motherwell side who put in a strong showing despite losing 1-0 at Ibrox.

Brodie Spencer has earned 33 points in his 352 minutes of top-flight action and has been a solid defensive pick up for Fantasy players while Conor Wilkinson’s return from injury could help add an attacking edge for the Steelmen.

Joe Hart’s red card against Livingston will see him miss out through suspension so expect many Fantasy bosses to be looking for a goalkeeping change for GW7. Reo Hatate made his first Premiership start of 23/24 last time out – leading to an increase in ownership of the Japanese midfielder.

Hibernian v Dundee

Nick Montgomery has made a positive impact since arriving at Easter Road and one player reaping the benefits has been right-back Lewis Miller. The defender has scored in back-to-back league matches and earned 36 points in GW6.

Dylan Vente has also been on the goal hunt, collecting 22.7 points from his afternoon’s work against St. Johnstone last time out and scoring in each of his last three appearances in all competitions.

Amadou Bakayoko got off the mark in the Scottish top flight with his goal against Kilmarnock and that means the forward is Dundee’s leading Fantasy scorer with 39.5 points to date.

Since arriving on loan from Motherwell, Ricki Lamie has 32 points in 270 minutes and any players looking for defensive reinforcements could look to pick up the centre back.

Kilmarnock v St. Mirren

Losing injury-time goals in their past two matches has hurt Derek McInnes’ men as they seek a positive response when facing high-flying St. Mirren.

Danny Armstrong continues to be the creative spark for the Ayrshire men and his double at Dundee saw Fantasy managers take home 25.9 points. Corrie Ndaba made his comeback from injury as a substitute in midweek and – having earned 28 points from just 180 minutes of league football – his return could aid the Killie cause.

St. Mirren’s full-backs have provided plenty of value with Scott Tanser and Ryan Strain earning over 180 points between them. Goalkeeper Zach Hemming is no stranger to Rugby Park having enjoyed two seasons on loan with Killie. He has wasted no time showing his worth to the Buddies faithful and with 87 points won so far, he’s been a hit with Fantasy participants too.

Rangers v Aberdeen

Both sides progressed to the Viaplay Cup semi-finals on Wednesday but important league points are the order of the day at Ibrox.

Ownership of James Tavernier has increased this week with the Rangers captain sitting alongside goalkeeper Jack Butland as the pick of the bunch for Michael Beale’s team. Rabbi Matondo’s injury lay-off could lead to some tactical transfers with the Welsh winger sitting joint top of the assists table alongside team-mate Borna Barisic.

Bojan Miovski topped the table in GW6 as his double against Ross County secured an impressive 42.6 points. It was also a good week for Richard Jensen and Duk, who brought home 32 and 30.6 points respectively for their contributions to a big home triumph.

Ross County v Heart of Midlothian

Contrasting fortunes for these two sides in the Viaplay Cup but will that have any bearing on Saturday’s match in Dingwall?

Kyle Turner scored from the penalty spot in midweek and the midfielder has steadily moved up the list of County’s outstanding performers alongside defender Josh Reid.

Jorge Grant and Alex Lowry were on target in Hearts’ midweek triumph but can they add value to their points haul in Fantasy? Steven Naismith’s team selection could see both given another chance to impress while Stephen Kingsley continues to be a reliable source of points.

St. Johnstone v Livingston

It’s a big one at the bottom of the table as 12th face 10th in Perth.

Points and goals have been in short supply for Saints so far this season but they may take heart from facing the league’s joint worst defence, with Livingston conceding 11 goals in their six Premiership outings.

Bruce Anderson remains Livingston’s most dangerous attacking player with 29.3 points and, with both his Premiership goals coming away from home this term, he’ll be desperate to add another in this clash.
