Ferguson no longer taking position with Sons

Former Stranraer boss to concentrate on media work

Derek FergusonFormer Rangers and Hearts midfielder and Stranraer manager Derek Ferguson has had a very short stay as assistant manager at Dumbarton. The club announced last Wednesday that Ferguson would be part of newly appointed interim manager Alan Adamson’s backroom staff, however the 43 year old is now not taking up the position.

A club spokesperson said, “Derek’s on-going media commitments have meant that he could not commit the time required for the assistant manager’s position and therefore he will not be part of Dumbarton’s interim backroom staff.”

Adamson has also started re-shaping his playing pool at Strathclyde Homes Stadium with winger Graham Wilson re-joining Junior side Cumnock after just 3 months at Strathclyde Homes Stadium and on-loan Aberdeen youngster Stirling Smith returning to Pittodrie.
