Rangers William Hill Premiership

Fernando Ricksen

Everyone at the SPFL is deeply saddened to learn that former Rangers player Fernando Ricksen has passed away after his battle with motor neurone disease.

The Dutchman joined Rangers from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2000 and won several trophies during his time at Ibrox.

Ricksen, who also played for his country, helped Rangers win the SPL and Scottish Cup double under Alex McLeish in 2004/05, in a season when he was jointly named PFA Scotland Player of the Year with John Hartson.

He left Rangers for Zenit St Petersburg in 2006 and ended his career with Fortuna Sittard.
