• Dundee will be aiming to bounce straight back to the cinch Premiership after their relegation last season. The Dee have won the cinch Championship title on 5 previous occasions, most recently in 2013/14, and new manager Gary Bowyer will be targeting a sixth title.
• Livingston are competing in the cinch Premiership for the 5th consecutive season, having gained promotion via the play-offs in 2017/18. The Lions’ previous stint in the top flight also lasted 5 seasons, between 2001/02 and 2005/06, so if they can stay up this season they will surpass their longest run as a cinch Premiership club.
• Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos has reached double figures in each of the last 5 cinch Premiership seasons – the only player in the division to have done so. Morelos found the net 11 times in the league in 2021/22 to take his overall tally for the club to 67 league goals. Morelos is also Rangers’ record goalscorer in European competitions, with 29 goals.
• Albion Rovers are gearing up for a 5th season in a row in cinch League 2 following their relegation in 2018. The club are celebrating their 140th anniversary in 2022, having formed from the merger of Albion and Rovers back in 1882. Brian Reid has kept the Coatbridge side outside of the bottom two since taking over, and with the division wide open in 2022/23 they may be looking to take inspiration from the 2014/15 side which won the League 2 title.
• Ayr United will be competing in the cinch Championship for the 5th consecutive season after avoiding relegation on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign. The Honest Men are enjoying their longest spell in the second tier since the turn of the century - they spent seven straight seasons in the division between 1997/98 and 2003/04.
