Former Cowdenbeath and Livingston defender Daniel Welsh has made the big time in America after agreeing to join MSL side San Jose Earthquakes despite interest from David Beckham’s former club, LA Galaxy.
The 22-year-old son of former Blue Brazil boss Brian moved to America in 2010 and worked his way through the University system in America where he played for both Maryland and Santa Barbara before being spotted.
Welsh had the chance to join LA Galaxy however he opted for San Jose and proud grand-father Livingston Chairman Gordon McDougall said: “Daniel has worked hard on and off the park to progress in America. He has earned a terrific move into the professional leagues there and we are sure he will do well in the MSL.”
