• Bonnyrigg Rose are making their debut in the SPFL after beating Cowdenbeath in the play-off to gain promotion from the Lowland League. They are the 4th club to be promoted to the SPFL in this way, joining FC Edinburgh, Cove Rangers and Kelty Hearts.
• Dundee United finished in 4th place in last season’s cinch Premiership – their highest league finish for 8 years. New manager Jack Ross will lead the Terrors into Europe for the first time in a decade when they start their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign in a fortnight.
• Partick Thistle will be aiming to follow up last season’s 4th place finish in the cinch Championship with a tilt at the league title in 2022/23. The Jags won this division a decade ago and will be hoping for a repeat this time around as they seek a return to the Premiership for the first time since 2018.
• Montrose will be hoping for yet another top 4 finish in cinch League 1 as they continue to chase their dream of promotion to the cinch Championship. Stewart Petrie’s side have finished in the top 4 in each of their 4 seasons in this division since gaining promotion but have yet to be successful in the play-offs.
• Stenhousemuir will be hoping it is 4th time lucky as they aim to gain promotion from cinch League 2. The Warriors narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season, finishing in 5th place, just three points behind FC Edinburgh. Stephen Swift’s side had one of the best away records in the division last season, losing just 4 times on the road – if they can sort things out at Ochilview then they will be in with a strong chance of finishing in the top 4.
