Hamilton announce passing of Sandy Wilson and Malcolm Baillie

New Douglas Park lose two familiar figures from club history

Hamilton Accies have announced that their Honorary Life President, Dr Sandy Wilson and former player Malcolm Baillie both passed away at the weekend.

Wilson was the Club Doctor for 30 years, and only stepped down from his post at the age of 80 in 2004, although he remained a regular attender at home games up until the start of the season.

Club Secretary Scott Struthers said: “Dr Wilson also served on the Board of the Club and was Vice Chairman in the early 1980’s. He gave us many years of service and was a wise counsel to many Managers and players during his time here.”

Baillie, who played three times in the Accies first team under Eric Smith in 1975, became a well-known figure amongst the New Douglas Park support as the Manager of the Club's Social Club in the late 1990s.

Struthers added: “The club were very saddened to learn of the death of both Dr Wilson and Malcolm. Our condolences are with their families at this time.”
