Herd suffers injury blow

Shire striker aggravates hand injury

Michael Herd (right) in action for East StirlingshireEast Stirling’s summer signing from Whitehill Welfare, striker Michael Herd, who returned to action as a substitute against Dumbarton last weekend in the Scottish Cup is facing another spell on the side-lines.

Herd had injured tendons in his hand in an accident away from football in mid-September and he looked set to be fighting for a starting place in the Shire’s next game against Queen’s Park next Tuesday, however he aggravated the injury in a friendly against Albion Rovers in midweek.

It is the second set-back for head coach John Coughlin who also lost Rhys Devlin in the same game and he said, “We took this game to give players who had been out for a while some game time. Disappointingly it looks like it has not worked out the way we wanted it too.”
