Kirkwood becomes manager at Wick Academy

Raith Rovers Cup winner moves into management

David Kirkwood coaching Tangers youngsters (2005)Highland League side Wick Academy have announced that former East Fife, Rangers, Hearts and Raith Rovers midfielder Davie Kirkwood is to be their new manager. The 43 year old started his playing career in 1983 with East Fife where he made over 100 appearances before being signed by Graeme Souness for Rangers. He only featured seven times for the Ibrox men before moving onto Hearts, Airdrieonians and Raith Rovers where he won a League Cup medal in 1994 when the Kirkcaldy men defeated Celtic.

After stopping playing in 2000 Kirkwood, who picked up one Scotland under-21 cap, worked in the development of youth players at Raith Rovers, Rangers and Ross County where he was Head of Youth.
