Knox hangs up his post bag

SFL's best known postie looking for new career

Keith KnoxOne of the most frequently staged photographs used to promote football in the lower divisions can no longer be taken as Stranraer manager Keith Knox has hung up his post bag after 27 years of delivering letters and parcels across the Wigtownshire town.

Knox was frequently pictured in his Royal Mail uniform during his 26 year playing career at Stranraer, Clyde, Alloa, Gretna and Stenhousemuir as well as during his 3 year spell in charge at Stair Park, however the 47 year old is now looking for new employment.

Knox said, “I have been pictured lots of time with different things in my post bag to promote games, usually Scottish Cup ones but after a re-organisation I have decided to leave. I have been a postie for more than half my life and it is time to try something else.”

“I think my legs may need a rest as I have walked thousands of miles in this job and played in nearly 800 games.”
